Want the DVD? Or the BR Game? Don't know which books or music to get? Maybe you'd like a Deckard action figure? Make sure you check the BR Related section for all your BR choices.

So, now the 25th Anniversary Blade Runner Final Cut is out there in the world, what are the actual changes? Don't expect a comprehensive list (at least not yet), but these are the main alterations, besides the clean film and 5.1 sound.

Corrections that have been made:

These are perhaps the most obvious things that people hoped would be "fixed".

  • Cables have been digitally removed from the Spinners.
  • Bryant now says that TWO Replicants were fried, thus eliminating that annoying "6 - 1 does not equal 4" equation. This dialogue was originally recorded, but I don't know for sure if that is what is used.
  • Tyrell's thumb has been removed from Roy's shoulder in the phone booth.
  • Snake scale serial number has been corrected.
  • Deckard and Abdul Ben Hassan dialogue synchronisation has been fixed (using Harrison Ford's son, Ben, as a lip double).
  • Zhora crashing through plate glass windows - Joanna Cassidy's face has been refilmed and edited onto the stunt woman.
  • When Roy releases the dove, it now flies into a darker cloudy sky, more in keeping with the rest of the film.
Extra bits:
  • When Bryant is describing Leon to Deckard, he explains what job he had Off-World.
  • When Deckard "takes a moment" out on the balcony of his apartment, there is now a geisha girl displayed on the building in the background.
  • Those go-go girls of legend (and which you can see momentarily in the trailer) are now in the film.
  • The Unicorn! Redone - remarkably like a certain clip that has been in the BRmovie downloads section for years... i.e. in two parts around Deckard musing.
  • Not extra, but making the choice between different versions, the Final Cut has Roy saying to Tyrell "More life, Father" instead of "Fucker".
The extra violence of some versions is back:
  • When Roy crushes Tyrell’s skull, we see his thumbs go into the eye sockets.
  • When Deckard is fighting with Pris, she picks Deckard up by his nose and then drops him.
  • Deckard then shoots Pris 3 times.
  • Roy pushing the nail through has hand is more graphic as you see the nail go all the way through and coming through the other side.
NOT changed (since the "DC"):
  • The silly tacked-on ending of the original theatrical release is, of course, consigned to Hell and had no chance whatsoever of being reintroduced.
  • Scott hated the VO in the end, so no version of the many done makes it back.
  • The hospital scene (Deckard visits Holden) was originally cut out because it added too much duplicated explanation. Sometimes things are cut for a reason and that reason remains valid 25 years later! Hopefully it will be included in a deleted scenes section on the DVD. If not, most of it has been in our Downloads section for years, so you've probably already seen it.
